With 30,000 rose species to choose from, this is one flower that will not disappear anytime soon,. Through the ages, this beautiful flower has been used by many to express feelings of love – from Aphrodite, The Greek Goddess of Love to her lover Adonis, to Tudor King Henry VII to his York bride. Estimations in 2009 are that 150 million rose plants are purchased yearly by gardeners worldwide. Due to very sophisticated breeding programs, rose plants are said to dominate the world's cut flower market – so much so, the annual crop can only be measured in tons.
